This three-day programme is for those interested in becoming mentors, or already involved in mentoring. We will explore mentoring as a developmental tool, thinking about how and when it can be helpful, what the benefits are, the skills of effective mentoring and practicalities of setting up mentoring schemes. The emphasis throughout the three days will be on relating inputs to participants’ experience, and on practising key skills in small groups with feedback from experienced mentors. The lead facilitators provide theoretical inputs explaining the purpose of each aspect of the model, followed by demonstrations. Then participants work as mentor, mentee (using real issues) and observer, with facilitator support, using their own real current unresolved dilemmas and opportunities as material.
