    The SICS trainee meeting is back!

    Come along for excellent speakers, 6 accredited CPD points, and networking with critical care colleagues from all over Scotland!

     

    The full programme is available to download and includes:

    - Dr Sarah Clarke, Chair of FICM Training, Assessment and Quality Committee speaking about the future of ICM training

    - Professor Ben Shelley, NRS Lead for Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine and Critical Care research speaking about critical care research in Scotland and how to get involved

    - Dr Paula Redmond, Clinical Psychologist speaking about a trauma-informed perspective on burnout

    - Dr Euan Sandilands, Consultant Clinical Toxicologist speaking about therapeutic poisons and recreational highs

    - Talks on advanced organ support, paediatric emergencies for the adult intensivist, transfer of the critically ill patient and more!

     

    The venue is a 7 minute walk from Queen Street Station, so is well located for a trip to the Christmas market or some festive drinks after the meeting!

    Abstract Competition supported by NHS Research for Scotland:

    • We are welcoming abstracts for oral presentation at the meeting. All delegates are welcome to submit an abstract under the categories of Research, Quality Improvement or Case Report.
    • The top 3 abstracts will be invited to deliver a short oral presentation at the meeting, with the best presentation being awarded a prize supported by NHS Research for Scotland!
    • All presenters will receive a certificate, and abstracts not selected for oral presentation will automatically be submitted to the abstract competition for SICS ASM 2025, where both poster and oral presentations will be available.
    • Abstracts should be sent to sicstrainees@gmail.com
    • Closing date for submissions: THURSDAY 31st OCTOBER 2024

    Abstract guidance:

    • Abstracts should be maximum 250 words (excluding title/authors).
    • Please list all authors with affiliations. At least one author must be registered to attend the meeting, and all named authors must be aware of submission.
    • For Research / QI submissions please comment on ethical / regulatory approval as appropriate (e.g. Ethics committee, Caldicott Guardian approval).
    • For case reports, written consent must be sought from patients who have data used in either a case report or case series (click here to download consent form)
    • Submission of the abstract constitutes the consent of all authors to publication (e.g. Conference website, programme or promotions).
    • Abstracts will be judged on the novelty, importance and impact of the work. The decision of the judges is final.
    • Successful submissions will be notified by email by Friday 8th November 2024.

     

    Cancellation Policy:
    Refunds are allowed only up to two weeks earlier than the course/event. Full refund (after deducting administrative charge) if cancelled earlier than 6 weeks. 50% refund if cancelled earlier than 4 weeks.
