This one day course delivers a combination of lectures and hands-on workstations.Delegates will learn about one-lung ventilation and gain practical experience in the insertion and use of double lumen endotracheal tubes and bronchial blockers for lung isolation.There will be lectures and workstations on mechanical cardiovascular support devices, including intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and cardiac pacemakers, giving delegates a better understanding of how these devices work and how to manage the patient with them.

The course is designed for senior anaesthesia or intensive care trainees (ST5-7) and consultants.
