    EVENT DESCRIPTION
    We are pleased to introduce the first Intermediate course within the BLOCKED portfolio which will be organised in partnership with the local organisers based at Croydon University Hospital, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust and in collaboration with B. Braun Medical Ltd.

    This is a one-day course, ideal for all anaesthetists from those with little or no experience in regional anaesthesia to those looking to refresh their knowledge.

    The day is a balanced combination of workshops and lectures covering all aspects of regional anaesthesia.

    AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
    • To equip anaesthetists with the knowledge, skills, and decision-making to safely plan, perform, and manage ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia for the upper limb, lower limb, chest and trunk throughout the perioperative period.

    LEARNING OUTCOMES
    Core Principles, Safety, and Foundational Skills:
    • USS Optimisation - Understand how to achieve high-quality ultrasound imaging and recognise common artefacts on live models.
    • Coagulation Management - Apply current RCoA/RA-UK guidelines for regional anaesthesia to patients with antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy.
    • Inadequate Block Management - Develop a stepwise approach to managing an inadequate regional block in the awake patient or in recovery, including rescue options.

    Regional Block Application and Independent Practice:
    • Upper Limb Block - Independently perform pre-block scanning, anatomical location, and planning for Interscalene, Supra-/Infraclavicular, or Axillary blocks.
    • Lower Limb Block - Independently perform pre-block scanning, anatomical identification, and planning for Femoral, FIB, Adductor Canal, or Popliteal Sciatic blocks.
    • Chest Wall and Trunk Blocks - Identify sono-anatomical landmarks for TAP, Rectus Sheath, ESP and Serratus Anterior Plane blocks.
