Specialty Practice - Work experience
Dr. Nikolaos Gougoulias, born in Greece in 1973, is a fellowship trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specializing in Foot & Ankle Surgery, including complex hindfoot reconstructive surgery, arthroscopy, foot and ankle trauma and post-traumatic reconstruction. Dr. Gougoulias is certified by the European Foot Ankle Society (standing successfully the certification examination in 2015).
He works at the General Hospital of Katerini, an acute hospital of the Public Health Service in Greece, since March 2021. His current commitments involve on call duties (approx. 8/month) managing general orthopaedic trauma, operating theatres (performing approx. 300 procedures/year), outpatient clinics (seeing approx. 60 patients/week).
The Orthopaedic Department is recognised as training centre by the European Foot Ankle Society, receiving international fellows.
Previously (2009-2021), he worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon in Frimley Park Hospital (NHS), in Surrey, United Kingdom, and part-time privately in Greece.
Dr. Gougoulias is regularly organizing and participating in EFAS meetings and educational activities since 2007, having earned more than 700 CME points. He has been a faculty member in numerous national and international meetings (congresses, instructional courses, cadaveric courses), and is committed to training and teaching younger orthopaedic surgeons.
