Mr Karan Malhotra

Karan Malhotra is a consultant orthopaedic foot & ankle surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He undertook his basic medical training in the University of Manchester, graduating with honours. His early training medical and surgical training was in Manchester and Yorkshire. He then joined the Stanmore Orthopaedic training programme. He has undertaken foot & ankle fellowships in Melbourne, Australia and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, UK. He was awarded a grant by the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society for a visiting fellowship to Singapore and his international fellowship to Australia. Throughout his career Mr Malhotra has been actively involved with research. He is widely published, and his work has won national and international awards. He has also written book chapters and consensus publications. He is actively involved in cutting edge research with the Research Department of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Science based at RNOH and affiliated with UCL. RNOH is rated within the top 10 orthopaedic institutions in the world, and UCL is rated within the top 10 universities in the world. Mr Malhotra has particular interests in developing technology in healthcare and improving patient outcomes and holds seats on national committees with the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS). Through these committees he is active in a number of national projects aimed at improving patient care. He is currently Media & Communications director for BOFAS and a council member. Mr Malhotra is a keen educator and trainer. He is regularly invited to teach on courses and registrar training programmes. He is currently involved in running foot & ankle teaching nationally through BOFAS, and is a co-convenor of the Stanmore Foot Course
