The Scottish Society of Anaesthetist will be holding a Spring Meeting at Peebles Hydro on 27th & 28th April this year. You can get better value CPD online but if you would like the augmented experience of a real conference, then the SSA is hard to beat for value. Although it is the oldest anaesthetic society in the world, the SSA is a friendly and vibrant society. It is a good place to meet colleagues and friends from around Scotland and beyond. The programme is excellent and will be uploaded shortly. The programme is excellent and provides great value for money for a face-to-face meeting. It includes Fiona Donald RCoA President, Prof Gregor Smith CMO, Prof Colin McCartney, Toronto (regional anaesthesia and leadership), Nicholas Levy AoA diabetic guidelines, Ben Shelley (outcomes), Catriona Barr (a lifetime of remote and rural), SCOTSTAR retrieval, airway matters, the power of language, joy in work, micro-agression and sexism. There will be an option to sign up for Mentorship taster sessions which will run in parallel to the programme. There will be a drinks reception, dinner, ceilidh and plenty of time to meet colleagues and friends from all over the country, and from over the years. Peebles Hydro enjoys a beautiful border setting within the Tweed Valley. For outdoor enthusiasts it is right next to Glentress, and for the mountain bikers among you, it is on the Glentress trails map! You can cycle directly from the hotel to the top car park, and the hotel has bike storage facilities. The hotel itself has been undergoing refurbishment by owners Crieff Hydro Hotels group. It has a swimming pool, spa facilities and a gin bar as well as a distillery and a brewery. Finally Peebles Golf Course is described as the jewel in the borders crown. So why not make a long weekend of it?
