A study day to develop knowledge and understanding of the multidisciplinary management of patients living with obesity with a particular focus on perioperative and anaesthetic management.

A study day to develop knowledge and understanding of the multidisciplinary management of patients living with obesity with a particular focus on perioperative and anaesthetic management. Bringing together anaesthetists, surgeons, physicians, nurses, dietitians and psychologists, the programme offers practical, up-to-date teaching that reflects the whole bariatric patient pathway, from outpatient assessment through to surgery and recovery. This day is primarily aimed at anaesthetic residents and consultants but we would welcome attendance from allied health professionals and other medical specialties.

This event is accredited by the RCOA for 5 CPD credits.

What’s covered

  • Allied health perspectives: Outpatient obesity management, the role of the dietitian in weight management, and psychological management in bariatrics.
  • Key topics in bariatric anaesthesia: Airway management, post-operative analgesia, and the anaesthetic management of bariatric patients in obstetrics.
  • Workshops: Choose from parallel sessions on TIVA in bariatrics, anaesthesia for bariatric patients, cardiac risk assessment with SPECT, and respiratory physiology.
  • Management of obesity: Surgical options, medical management, and day case bariatric surgery.
  • See the programme for full details
