We are delighted to introduce the inaugural leadership development workshop, specifically designed to support trainees working within the Generic Professional Capabilities Hub. These two interactive workshops, have been devised in partnership with the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM). They will help support your personal and professional management and leadership development, in clinical work and projects, as well as connecting, collaborating and networking with other Anaesthetic trainees.

These two interactive workshops, have been devised in partnership with the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM). They will help support your personal and professional management and leadership development, in clinical work and projects, as well as connecting, collaborating and networking with other Anaesthetic trainees.

Who is this for? This programme is best suited to trainees/fellows taking on leadership roles in the workplace, be it as a GPC Hub trainee lead, lead for a project, or in other positions of leadership out-with the GPC Hub structure. It is open to trainees/fellows of all seniorities. There will be a maximum of 16 trainees in the group – so there will be great learning opportunities together.

Workshop 2: Leading Others, 11th April 2024

  • Leadership styles – what works, when?
  • Valuing Diversity, Difference, and inclusion in practice
  • Being at your best - supporting wellbeing
  • Leading change
  • Effective Communication and giving Constructive Feedback
  • Systems working
  • Personal development goals to progress from session Commitment of applied learning practice
  • Personal development reflection and Action Planning

There will be a 90-minute online Check-in session in February scheduled for all participants

Who is facilitating? The workshops will be delivered in central London by Jane Cryer, FMLM Senior Associate and Sponsored by Dr Joe Lipton, Consultant Anaesthetist, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Assessment Lead, RCoA Curriculum Development & Assurance Group.

How much does this cost and what is else is included?

  • The fee for the two days is £500, which can be funded via the 'Aspirational study budget PLUS
  • A year’s Membership of FMLM for each participant (worth £91) which provides participants with access to a range of services including:
  • Priority access to BMJ Leader journal dedicated to medical leadership and management Access to the FMLM mentoring network
  • Discounted registration to attend the FMLM conference in Manchester in March 2024.
  • Opportunity to publish opinion or research work through the FMLM digital channels
  • On completion of the two days participants will be encouraged and supported to apply for Fellowship of FMLM.
Refunds are allowed only upto two weeks earlier than the course/event. Full refund(after deducting administrative charge) if cancelled earlier than 6 weeks. 50% refund if cancelled earlier than 4 weeks.
