The Enhancing Maternal Care Study Day at Guy’s Hospital provides delegates with essential knowledge and skills to support safe recovery and management of maternal patients in the postoperative setting. The program begins with an introduction to recovery standards and the aims of the day, before moving into practical sessions on airway management, ventilation techniques, and capnography. Participants explore CO₂ monitoring, airway and respiratory complications in PACU, and arterial line setup, followed by teaching on cardiovascular complications. The afternoon focuses on immersive simulation scenarios, allowing learners to apply knowledge in realistic clinical situations. The day concludes with guidance on safe recovery and discharge, along with time for reflection and feedback. This study day combines expert-led teaching, hands-on practice, and simulation-based learning to strengthen confidence and competence in maternal care.

Enhancing Maternal Care Study Day
This study day equips participants, midwives , postoperative care nurses and ODPs with key skills in maternal postoperative care, covering airway management, CO₂ monitoring, cardiovascular and respiratory complications, and safe recovery practices. The program combines expert teaching, hands-on learning, and simulation to enhance confidence and competence in clinical practice.
