Cardiovascular Study Day for Nurses and ODPs Nov 2026

The Cardiovascular Study Day at Guys Hospital provides a comprehensive overview of essential cardiovascular topics for clinical practice. The program begins with a detailed session on cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, laying the foundation for understanding pathophysiology and patient care. This is followed by an in-depth look at shock and the bleeding patient, emphasising early recognition and management strategies. Participants develop practical skills through teaching on invasive monitoring, while the afternoon focuses on interpreting ECG's and recognising cardiac arrhythmia's. Interactive group case scenarios allow participants to apply their knowledge in a collaborative setting. The day concludes with a session on the management of hypo- and hyperthermia, highlighting safe and effective patient care in challenging situations. Overall, the study day combines expert teaching, case-based learning, and discussion, equipping participants with up-to-date knowledge and skills in cardiovascular management.

This study day is part of the TAP Academy Recovery Foundation Programme.  A programme contains 4 study days spread across 4 months repeating through the year.

This course will provide an up-to-date session on the recognition and management of cardiovascular complications perioperatively. Previous recovery or anaesthetic nursing experience is required.
