BAPIO SAS & LED Forum Presents:

Breaking Down Barriers: The National LED Conference

Saturday 24th September 08:00 - 22:00 BST

Leicester Marriott Hotel

Grove Park, Smith Way, Leicester LE19 1SW

The BAPIO SAS & LED Forum is organising the FIRST EVER National Conference aimed at Locally Employed & Trust Grade Doctors in the UK!

Taking place in Leicester at The Leicester Marriott Hotel on Saturday, the 24th of September 2022 from 08:00 to 22:00, we are hoping to provide the opportunity for all to be able to join us. With 1/4th of our doctors in locally employed positions, now more than ever, we need to help raise the profile of these individuals that form a core part of delivering healthcare in the UK.

The event will have an interactive programme composed of a diverse mix of keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops and an opportunity to present your abstracts for oral and poster sessions at a National Conference as well as the launch of the LED charter!

THE CONFERENCE:

The conference will be providing a national platform for delegates and leaders to debate current topics with the focus of encouraging equal opportunities for locally employed doctors also known as trust grades, staff grades, clinical fellows, trust doctors and much more.

The conference also provides an excellent opportunity to network with professionals including healthcare executives, academics, researchers and administrators.

The day will be friendly, interactive and with plenty of opportunities for networking including a social event comprising a Bharatanatyam performance, Bollywood gala, singing and dancing performances by our fellow healthcare professionals as well as dinner at the end of the day.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

  1. To bring trust grade and locally employed doctors (LEDs) to the forefront and create a common platform to create awareness and give them a novel opportunity to network and learn about different career progression opportunities in the UK.

  2. To be a forerunner of the first LED conference of its kind to be organised in the UK till date.

  3. To involve leaders from major healthcare organisations- General Medical Council, NHS Employers, British Medical Association, Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and Health Education England, and make them aware of the inequalities that LEDs are subjected to.

  4. To be a stage for young doctors to showcase their talent through oral and poster presentations, panel discussions and workshops.

  5. To build a community for locally employed doctors to bond and bridge relations under one roof so they can collectively come to solutions for themselves.
