Wrightington regional anaesthesia interest group (WRAIG) - International RA congress with cadaver and USG workshop - 5th and 6th September 2024
1. RA congress with talks, panel discussions and abstract presentations on the 5th of September and cadaver and USG workshop on the 6th of September 2024. Both f2f and virtual attendance on the first day (5th September only).
2. Day 1 - 5th of September (F2F and virtual attendance) - Acclaimed speakers from UK and abroad including Dr.Robbie Erskine, Dr.Steve Roberts, Prof. Anil Hormis, Dr. BalaVenkat, Mr.Kingsley Draviaraj, Mr.Edward Jeans will be presenting on the day. Various topics including RA in trauma, paediatric RA(Dr.Steve Roberts), patho-physiology of beech chair position, recent advances and medico-legal aspects of RA will be covered in the day. Panel discussions between MSK surgeons and anaesthetists on topics including Beach chair position and compartment syndrome on the day.
3. Day 2 - 6th of September (f2f only) cadaveric workshop with hands-on needling and catheter techniques and USG hands on workshops.
4. Trainee abstract poster presentation and competition - abstract poster presentation with best trainee/young consultant(with in 4 years of joining) prize of 200, 100and 50 pounds for the first three places and a trophy for the first place is up for grabs on then first day with up to 5 shortlisted candidates presenting their work i front of the judging panel.
5. One of the very few cadaveric workshops in UK with hands on needling and catheter techniques practice on cadavers with catheter techniques taught by experts in the field followed by USG workshop which includes paediatric regional anaesthetic techniques as well.
6. Surgical anatomy demonstrations on cadaveric prosections by dedicated anatomy demonstrators and surgeons in the faculty.
7. USG practice on live models aimed at all levels from novice to advanced RA practitioners. Candidates will be allocated to specific groups based on their learning needs with small groups of three as maximum.
8. Limited group of maximum 3 candidates per group in cadaver needling and USG workshop to maximize learning opportunity.
9. Procedural based learning top tips from the delegates and demonstration and also pre-course material with learning modules.
8. Food and beverages included in the course fee for both days.
9. Cost - For both days combined - 500£, first day only - 200£, second day(6th) - 350£ including course materials and meals. Virtual attendance (first day only - 100£ for UK based attendees and 50£ for international attendees.). Combined cost of 500£ only for both days course.
10. Accommodation at reduced price with concession from the Wrightington hotel and spa near by (5 minutes away) for candidates who prefer to book an accommodation.
