Description

Primary FRCA OSCE Masterclass — 4-Day Online Course

  • This is a 4-day intensive online revision course designed for anaesthetic trainees preparing for the Primary FRCA Objective Structured Clinical Examination.
  • The course focuses on the skills candidates need to perform well in the Primary OSCE: structured station technique, clear communication, safe clinical behaviour, focused task completion, equipment familiarity, clinical data interpretation and calm performance under time pressure.
  • This is not just a passive lecture course. It is designed to help candidates actively practise OSCE-style tasks, refine station technique, identify weak areas and build confidence through repeated exposure to realistic AI-led and consultant-led OSCE scenarios.
  • The format combines consultant-led teaching, OSCE strategy and station technique coaching on Day 1 with intensive individual AI-led OSCE practice on Days 2–4, giving candidates repeated opportunities to practise, receive feedback and improve performance.
  • Our advanced interactive AI has been developed with input from expert anaesthetic consultants and trained using FRCA curriculum-aligned stations, model answers, mark schemes and examiner-style prompts.

Course Structure

Day 1 — Faculty-led OSCE technique, strategy and high-yield preparation

  • Expert-led teaching on how to approach the Primary FRCA OSCE
  • Friendly group Q&A format
  • Live refinement of candidate responses and station approach
  • Immediate examiner-led correction of structure, wording, prioritisation and task completion
  • Communication coaching where needed
  • Guidance on how to approach history, communication, equipment, monitoring, clinical data, resuscitation, technical skills and simulated emergency stations
  • Support with reading the station stem, identifying the task, managing time and avoiding common OSCE traps
  • Opportunity to learn from both personal answers and other candidates’ answers
  • Focus on converting knowledge into safe, structured and examiner-friendly OSCE performance

Days 2–4 — Intensive AI-led individual OSCE practice

  • Scheduled individual AI-led Primary FRCA OSCE practice sessions
  • AI-led OSCE stations mapped to the Primary FRCA curriculum
  • Practice across communication, history, anatomy, equipment, monitoring, clinical data, resuscitation, technical skills, anaesthetic hazards and simulated clinical scenarios
  • Timed OSCE-style practice each day to simulate the pace and pressure of the real examination
  • Immediate individual feedback after each session
  • Structured feedback on clarity, safety, task completion, prioritisation, clinical reasoning, communication and examination technique
  • Performance insights to highlight strengths, knowledge gaps and areas requiring further revision
  • No passive observer role, allowing candidates to maximise active practice time rather than waiting while others perform
  • After each session, candidates can review written model answers and station frameworks created by anaesthetic consultants to consolidate learning and identify missed points. These model answers will remain available on the FRCA.Ai platform for rapid revision until the examination date.

Course Description

  • The programme is intentionally intensive, with repeated OSCE practice and minimal passive downtime. This structure is designed to maximise active participation, feedback and exposure to a broad range of Primary FRCA OSCE stations within a focused 4-day period.
  • While the format may feel demanding, this level of intensity reflects the pressure of the real Primary FRCA OSCE. Candidates must be able to read the task quickly, recognise what is being assessed, communicate clearly, prioritise safely, complete the station and recover quickly before moving to the next scenario.
  • Repeated practice in this format helps build OSCE stamina, improve station structure, refine communication and increase confidence before the examination.
  • The FRCA.Ai approach is designed to give candidates significantly more individual practice time than traditional peer-observed courses. Instead of watching other candidates for long periods, each participant works through their own AI-led OSCE stations, receives personalised feedback and uses that feedback to refine subsequent performances.
  • The course is particularly useful for candidates who already have core knowledge but need to improve station technique, communication, time management, clinical prioritisation, equipment explanations and confidence under examination conditions.

Why This Format Works

  • You may already have textbooks, checklists, past stations, videos and model answers. The challenge is often not access to information, but being able to perform the station clearly, safely and efficiently under time pressure.
  • Day 1 provides live expert-led coaching to sharpen OSCE technique before the intensive practice days.
  • The course helps turn hesitant, disorganised or incomplete station performance into structured, safe and exam-ready responses.
  • It builds confidence through active OSCE practice rather than passive listening.
  • It focuses on the behaviours that score well in the real examination: reading the task properly, answering what is asked, communicating clearly, demonstrating safe judgement and completing the station within time.
  • Candidates learn how to start stations confidently, organise information, explain equipment and monitoring principles, communicate with patients or colleagues, and avoid drifting into unfocused detail.
